NHL SERIES PART 1: “The Habs” Montreal Canadiens

Team motto:
“Nos bras meurtris vous tendent le flambeau, à vous toujours de le porter bien haut.

To you from falling hands we throw the torch. Be yours to hold it high.”

The first team featured in my Canadian NHL series is the oldest hockey team in Canada.
Starting in the NHA in 1909, they were one of the first hockey teams in Canada. The NHL was formulated and they became one of the original 6 teams in 1917. The Montreal Canadiens have been a force to be reckoned with from the start.
Fighting from their home arena Bell Centre, the Habs (shortened form of “habitants”) proudly sport white, red and blue, or red white and blue (home and away jerseys)
They hold the title for the most Stanley Cup wins, (24 championships) and currently are sitting second in the Atlantic division (2014).

Yes… I speak sports ( albeit I’m more fluent in football (ITS NOT SOCCER! The whole world calls it football!!! Can you tell I grew up in the UK?)

I’m featured below wearing Patrick Roy’s home jersey 🙂
For all my HABS fans… GO HABS GO!!!

  1. Nice to see you support the Canadian NHL. The first set says you should consider some kind of Calendar or table book. Very nice.
