This event was put together months in advance, was intricately planned and highly anticipated. Myself and 14 other models went to several rehearsals learning different sets of choreography for different designers. Two of the designers flew in from overseas and we were cast to walk for them via video clips of our practise walks. These rehearsals were so much fun. Not only did I learn a ton about the fashion, but I had a rare glimpse into the home lives of the Pakistani women. These women not only maintain an immaculate household, well kept and happy children and content husbands, but they pre-cook gigantic dinners in advance, stay up til the wee hours of the morning tweaking outfits, designing, planning. At times us girls would get what’s app messages at 4-6am, so we know those lovely women didn’t even have a chance to sleep. They are not only some of the hardest working women I have ever met, but they are also some of the most beautiful souls in the world. Constantly full of laughter and joy. I truly mean it when I say it was a pleasure working with you. (Ps. The food was to die for!!!!! #indianfoodisamazing )
When it came to show day the backstage room was a zoo: Hair and makeup everywhere, clothes all over, girls tossing shoes, taking selfies, clouds of hairspray it was insanity. And I loved it.
You know you had the best hair stylist in the room when you look up, all the models are glaring at you, and then one starts… “Ummm, excuse me?? I don’t like my hair? Can you change it?!” And then another “ya me too!” And another. They had seen my hair and wanted theirs done better as it couldn’t compare to the amazing job Ramza did. I was proud to have my hair done by the best, Ramza Nas and her assistant sister Tina Fatima. For bookings contact the link below.
