Summer Setara

I literally never stop working. 🙂 which is great! The day after my birthday, (first day of summer) after MC’ing a fashion show for amazing local talent here in Calgary, I went to be the show closer/show stopper for two out of three designers, and still showcased the third designer in my first finale walk as well (if you’re wondering where the stunning clutch I’m holding (that’s paired with the blue dress) came from, stay tuned)
I was chosen by Aliya first and foremost as her star, she always said to me “you are my star of the show, you are going to be my show stopper, my star.”
So I walked last weeks Andaaz Fashion Fete as the show closer for Aliya, and while there sparked quite the interest in the piece I wore by Rukhsana Nadeem. (Represented here by co designer Mina Adeel)
This time both Aliya and Mina cast me as their Showstopper.

The show was The Charisma Fashion Gala hosted by Canadians For Global Care to raise money for breast cancer research/recovery. The event was organized beautifully, the tables were tastefully set with a wonderful meal served, also the stage was VERY WELL LIT! (Shouts out to my good friend gary who’s always got his eye out for that for me:)
Myself and the girls got ready backstage. As I was getting my hair done, my makeup was already done, I heard some of the speeches on the stage.
One lady’s went, “and then the doctor said “you have breast cancer, and everything after that, all I could hear was “blah blah blah”‘ I began tearing up back stage.
And another speaker came up to personally thank the Dr who organized this as (I’m assuming) that was her doctor also. While fighting back tears she explained how she had been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. How she had two little girls and a husband, and how she had managed to pull through. I was so inspired but so terrified for those poor women I was almost going to ruin my makeup from the tears! So I had to get it together quickly.
