3 Natural and Cheap Ways to Stop Acne Now!

Freddy fun fact of the week:

We’ve all been there, whether we’re in our teens, fighting as an adult, or are pregnant, acne can wreak havoc on our skin. If you’re like me you’ve spent numerous $ on several over the counter treatments that simply haven’t worked. So I teamed up with my awesome makeup artist Tara Smith and we have comprised this list of the top 3 methods to fight acne, naturally, that are incredibly affordable.

Now before starting any of these methods,we strongly suggest steaming your face to really open those pores up. If you have a face steamer use that, if not, you don’t need one at all, you can simply put a big pot of water on the stove to boil, and once the steam begins to rise, plug the sink with your plug, and pour the boiling water into the sink, take a damp towel, place your head over the sinks steam and cover your head and the sink with the damp towel.

Either way you choose, hold your face there for 3 minutes. (Use the timer on your phone)

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

This product has a ton of uses, but one of the best (and the one I swear by, so does Scarlett Johansen) is the use of apple cider vinegar as a toner.

First of all you need to make sure you’re using the proper product. The one you’d get at the grocery store more than likely won’t cut it. You need the natural product from a health food store. Try asking for Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. It has something called “the mother” in it, a natural anti fungal product.

Now there’s a couple ways you can apply this,

If your skin is REALLY oily, you can apply some to a cotton ball and dab on the face directly

If your skin is combination or quite dry, you can dilute the vinegar. Place a cap full of Apple cider vinegar in a bowl, and add 3 caps of water and mix the solution. Once the solution is mixed, then place cotton ball in the solution and dab on your face

DONT WORRY IF YOUR FACE GOES SUPER RED! Mine always does, but within a couple hours, ( or by morning, it will go away. I always do this before bed for that exact reason)

After, make sure you moisturize, I use about a dime size of olive oil for moisturizer.

When you apply moisturizer make sure you thoroughly rub into skin, the skin should look red whenever you apply moisture, that ensures you have increased the circulation to the surface of the skin and it will throughly absorb. You should spend about 30secs rubbing into skin using circular motions.

2. Lemon Juice and Baking Soda Face Mask

Using the juice of a lemon, or the pre squeezed lemon juice you can get at the store (comes in a little yellow plastic lemon shaped container) squeeze about 1.5 tbsp into a bowl, add just enough baking soda to make a paste. (The solution will foam up, don’t be scared, just keep stirring and it will go down.)

Apply to your clean face and lie down, it’s quite slippery so if you stay standing or sitting up there’s a good chance it will slip off a bit.

Set a timer for 10 minutes only. The solution is quite strong, so don’t go over that time.

Using a wet, warm cloth, wipe solution off in circular motions.

Moisturize as previously mentioned.

3. Oatmeal Scrub and warm milk (great for dry skin)

When I started modelling I swore by this.

Using 2tbsp oatmeal, place in a bowl and add enough water to make a paste. Scrub on face in circular motion for 5minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Place about 3/4 cup of milk in a dish and microwave until warm (NOT HOT! If it gets hot just wait a few minutes to cool, you should be able to press your palm in it without burning).

Using a clean face cloth, soak cloth in warm milk and squeeze out until it’s not dripping everywhere (don’t make it too dry though.) place a towel on a pillow, lay back on the pillow and place moistened milk cloth over face for 10 minutes.
